Abstract

[Also in Divisions G2-G3 and H1] An electroradiographic recording element comprises a composite photoconductor member including an X-ray sensitive first material and a photoconductive second material senstive to the fluorescence of the first material, the materials being intermixed with each other or one material embedded in the other. The photoconductive member, which is carried on a conductive backing plate e.g. of iron, may comprise minute particles of fluorescent material coated with photoconductive material and bound together by an insulative binder; alternatively separate fluorescent and photoconductive particles are held together by the binder. Suitable photoconductive materials are cadmium sulphide, evaporated selenium, zinc oxide and cadmium selenide and suitable fluorescent materials are calcium tungstate, alkali metal halides and barium lead sulphate. The binder material may be epoxy or acrylic resins. In a modification the fluorescent material is porous and the photo-conductive material infiltrated into the pores, or vice versa.
