Abstract

1,217,893. Pivotable sashless windows. COMPAGNIE DE SAINT-GOBAIN. 15 March, 1968 [22 Nov., 1967], No. 12763/68. Heading E1J. The meeting style or jamb 3 of a pivotable sashless window or door 1 which the window or door can contact in its closed position comprises a rigid member 3 which is roughly H-shaped in cross-section disposed to present one of the recesses 9 to the adjacent closing edge 14 of the window 1 and there is accommodated in said recess a flexible sealing strip of flexible resilient material, e.g. plastics material, adapted to engage the pivotable window in the closed position thereof. The other recess of the member 3 is fitted on to a pivotable pane 2. The sealing strip consists of two beadings 11, 12 fitted respectively into dove tail grooves on the inwardly facing flanges 6, 7 of member 3 and are bridged by a concave web portion 13 to contact the edge of the window which is rounded as shown, the beading 12 preferably has a tongue 15 the tip of which contacts the external surface of the window 1 to form an external seal. The member 3 is integral with a housing 16 for accommodating mechanism for operating locks &c. The member 2 may be a stationary pane e.g. of toughened glass or it may be the fixed door surround.
