Abstract

1522349 Double glazing BALLIMAN GLACES ET VERRES 10 Dec 1975 [11 Dec 1974] 50574/75 Heading E1R A kit of parts for converting an existing single glazed casement window to double glazing comprises a pane 2 mounted in a stainless steel frame 1 of V-section and a resilient magnetic strip 8. The sealing strip 8 is adapted to be compressed or expanded and is of elastomeric material in bellowslike form; it includes a ferromagnetic strip 14 e.g. of plastics material containing ferrite particles. The flange 10 may be affixed to the existing frame by staples 16 and adhesives and the remainder of the strip snapped into position and held by the detent arrangement 11, 12. Adjustable hinges 7 and a turn-button 8 may also be provided. An air-vent may also be provided in the existing casement (Figs. 5 and 6 not shown) which by use of a tortuous path lined with suitable material and deflectors allows ventilation but provides sound insulation.
