Abstract

1,217,790. Electric supply systems; electric converting systems. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. 21 Aug., 1968, No. 39924/68. Headings H2F and H2H. A circuit arrangement for controlling the supply of A.C. to a load via a single controlled rectifier has gate control means for triggering said controlled rectifier into a conducting condition at a submultiple of the supply frequency. As shown the gate control means is a capacitor C2 with a diode D4 and resistor R3 providing a unidirectional changing path from the supply, having a time constant in excess of one half cycle of the supply. When the capacitor is charged to the breakdown voltage of a diode D5 the capacitor discharges through the diode D5 and resistor R4 to fire the controlled rectifier S3.
