Abstract

1,031,464. Semi-conductor controlled rectifier pulse-generating circuits. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. Nov. 2, 1962 [Nov. 22, 1961], No. 41734/61. Heading H3T. A pulse generator comprises a semi-conductor switchable rectifier having a load in its anodecathode circuit and its cathode connected to the positive supply through a capacitor and to the negative supply through resistance means, the anode of the rectifier being connected to the positive supply and the gate electrode being maintained at a constant potential and the arrangement being such that the capacitor intermittently discharges through the load. As shown in Fig. 2, capacitor 9 charges up through resistor 12 and NPN transistor 11 until the cathode potential of rectifier 7 is sufficiently negative with respect to the gate electrode, maintained at a constant potential by resistors 5, 6, to cause the rectifier to conduct. Capacitor 9 then discharges through the load and the cathode potential rises to a value to cut-off the rectifier when the cycle is repeated. The transistor 11 acts as a constant current device and may be replaced by a resistor, Fig. 1 (not shown).
