Abstract
1,217,471. Lithium aromatic silicon compounds. DOW CORNING CORP. 1 Jan., 1969 [31 Jan., 1968], No. 18/69. Heading C3S. Lithium aromatic silicon compounds of the general formula where R is C 1-6 alkyl, R<SP>1</SP> is arylene or benzylene, n is 0 to 3, m is 1 to 4 and n + m is 1 to 4 are prepared by mixing a compound of the general formula with a compound R-Li, and then adding a compound of the formula R 2 -N-R<SP>11</SP>-N-R 2 , where R<SP>11</SP> is a C 1-6 alkylene radical. The examples describe the preparation of The compounds may be reacted with (1) CO 2 to give the carboxylic acid derivative, (2) ethylene oxide to give the alcohol and (3) chlorosilanes to give polymers.
