Abstract

1367819 Tetrahydrodibenzopyrans T PETRZILKA 16 Oct 1972 [14 Oct 1971] 47636/72 Heading C2C The invention comprises compounds of formula wherein R 1 represents a straight or branched chain C 1-10 alkyl group; R 2 represents a hydrogen atom or a protective group exchangeable for a hydrogen atom; and Q represents a group of formula These compounds may be obtained by thermally re-arranging a diacyl reactant of formula wherein R represents a hydrogen atom or a C 1-5 alkyl group, to a diacyl product of formula and deacylating the diacyl product so obtained. The intermediate diacyl reactant is prepared by epoxidation of a compound of formula wherein R 2 is a protective group exchangeable for a hydrogen atom to a product of formulµ removing the epoxy group to form a compound of formula removing the protective group to form a product of formulµ and acylating both hydroxy groups.
