Energy-absorbing elements. - In a liquid meter, a block 15, provided with a central pin 21 fixed eccentrically to a disk 17 on a shaft 18 actuating registering means, is provided with four spiral conduits 22, 23 leading from the bottom to the sides of the block, and gradually increasing in width. Liquid entering the meter through a pipe 11, and leaving through a pipe 12 connected to a circular groove 14, causes the block to reciprocate transversely in a member 6, and the latter to reciprocate longitudinally in the casing 3, so that the centre of the block moves in a circular path, and the registering means are thus operated. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises a statement that the apparatus may be mcditiefl to act as a liquid clutch or brake. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
