Abstract

1,216,889. Lining watercourses. NICOLON N.V. 17 April, 1968 [17 April, 1967; 2 Nov., 1967], No. 18254/68. Heading E1H. A lining for a subaqueous surface comprises fascines 4, 5 which cross each other in a lattice pattern and a mat 1 of strong, slightly elastic, sand-light but water permeable synthetic resin material (e.g. a fabric of polyethylene yarn), the fascines being connected at their intersections to one an other and secured to the mat (as at 6, 7 and 8) by an attachment including elements of similar material to the mat. One form of attachment includes extra threads 2 woven into the mat and having sections 3 where they lie above the mat surface forcing loops to which cords may be anchored securing ithe fascines at 6, 7 and 8. An alternative form of attachment Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown) comprises bands of fabric similar to the mat stitched to the mat along their centrelines under one set of parallel fasoines 4, 'the bands having eyelets in their edges through which a cord may be passed forming the band almost into a sleeve round the fascines, the other set of fascines 5 being attached by similar but shorter bands between the intersections with the fascines 4.
