Abstract

1337317 Pile fabrics for strip fastenings ELVERSELE NV 2 Aug 1971 [3 Aug 1970 24 Aug 1970 25 Aug 1970 13 May 1971] 36288/71 Heading D1 [Also in Division E2] In a hook-type fastening device each layer 1 of material is formed by a process wherein a woven material is produced having a surface provided with a plurality of loops 2 formed from synthetic, e.g. polypropylene, threads. The loops are divided by e.g. cutting or heating in the region of their apices 4 to form two divergent branches 5, 6 and a 'hooking' head 7 is formed at the end of each branch preferably by heat treatment. The weave of the material is preferably elasticated and as shown in Fig. 4 comprising a weft of multifilament nylon threads 8-19 and a warp of similar threads 20 and threads 21 of a natural or synthetic elastic material. Polypropylene thread 26 forms loop 22, passes under threads 9, 10 over 11, under 12, 13 and forms loop 24 .. and thread 27 similarly forms loops 23, 25 ... Threads 26, 27 are "fixed" by heat treatment and the under surface of the material may be stiffened by a coating of e.g. latex.
