Abstract

1340591 Warp knitting ELASTELLE PAUL FONTANILLE & FILS 29 April 1971 [30 April 1970] 12235/71 Heading D1K A warp knitted fabric having laid-in elastic warps has an edge band A or bands in which transposition of an elastic thread or threads to a different wale and back again at intervals results in a scalloped edge. The basic fabric comprises non-elastic warps 1 joined by periodic transfer or non-elastic wefts 4. The edge band of e.g. 2 or 3 wales is joined to the main band P by e.g. a laid-in weft 4a. Elastic laid-in warps 3 in the band P and edge warp 7 are knitted under the same tension. Warp 8 is at a lighter tension and fed in at such a rate that the length per unit length of fabric, at rest, incorporated is greater than the corresponding unit length of warps 3 and 7. Either or both elastic warps 7 and 8 are transposed at intervals e.g. courses M 2 , M 11 . The weft 4b joining the two wales of band A may be eliminated, therefor the scallop hooks are joined to the bands at the transpositions only.
