Abstract

1,215,665. Direct-positive photographic silver halide emulsion. E. I. DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO. June 11, 1969 [June 12, 1968], No.29599/69. Headings G2C. Direct-positive photographic silver halide emulsions containing a fogging amount of at least one amine borane compound also contain at least one water-soluble gold compound in an amount to provide at least 0À4 x 10<SP>-5</SP> moles of Au<SP>+++</SP> or Au<SP>+</SP> per 1À5 moles of silver halide. Boranes specified are trimethylamine borane, test-butylamine borane and morpholine borane and gold compounds mentioned include auric chloride and aurous thiocyanate. The gold compound reduces the red sensitivity of the emulsion. The emulsion may also contain sensitizing dyes, e.g. 3-carboxymethyl-5-[3-ethyl- 2 (3 thiazolinylidene) ethylidene] rhodanine, and rhodium chloride as a kink desensitizer.
