Abstract

1,215,632. Mixing fluent materials in proportionate quantities. BERK Ltd. 3 April 1969 [22 Feb., 1968], No. 8581/68. Heading B1C. Apparatus for delivering proportionate quantities of different fluent materials to an in-line mixer 3 comprises metering pumps 1, 2 and control valves 4a, 4b, each of which is operable to stop its associated pump in responce to the exhaust pressure of the pump at the end of each cycle and also to start a further cycle only when both pumps have completed the preceding cycle. By fluent material is meant a gas, liquid, or solid, or mixture thereof, in pumpable form. A stepup valve 8 may be associated with each pump. In operation, compressed air from line 5 is passed through control valves 4a, 4b to operate metering pumps 1, 2. At the end of each pumping cycle, air exhausted from ports 6 actuates step-up valves 8 to allow air to flow from line 5 through conduits 7 to valves 4a, 4b to stop pumps 1, 2. When both pumps have completed their cycles, compressed air from line 9 passes first through valve 4a and then valve 4b to operate the pumps.
