Abstract
1,215,613. Press treating textile webs. H. KRANTZ VERWALTUNGS G.m.b.H. 26 Aug., 1968 [13 Sept., 1967], No. 40654/68. Headings D1L and D1S. In a method of treating wool webs to achieve a press-board effect the web is given a moisture content of 10-17% by weight and passed between two pairs of pressing surfaces, one or both of which revolves, at a pressure of 10 to 40 Kg./cm<2> and at a temperature of 40 to 90 ‹C. A wool web 13 moving axially parallel to a pair of rotating drums 6, 8 is deflected by a member 11 past nozzles 16 to achieve its desired moisture content, beneath a spring loaded roller 15 and into the spandrel between belt 9 and drum 6. The web is then subjected to a first pressure stage whilst being moved through 180‹ of the drum's 6 rotation. The web is then parted from belt 9 by a roller 17 whilst the belt is cleaned by a brush 18. The web is then subjected to a second pressure stage between belt 9 and drum 8. It is then removed from the belt 9, passed between coolers 21 and deflected by a member 12 along a path parallel to its original feed path. The heat is provided by infra-red heaters 19.
