Abstract
1,214,926. Jet pumps. J. SHOTTON. Jan.22, 1969 [Jan.23, 1968], No.3624/68. Heading F1E. A jet pump operated by air or steam for extracting gases from tanks, or for forcing air into tanks, comprises frusto-conical suction and exhaust pipes 11, 12 and an annular chamber 14 communicating through a slot 15 with a throat 13 between the pipes, pressurized air or steam being supplied to chamber 14 through a pipe or pipes 16 disposed tangentially, or substantially tangentially to the chamber. Pipes 16 may be disposed in the plane of the chamber, as shown, or at an angle to the plane, Fig.4 (not shown). The suction and exhaust pipes may be made as an integral unit, or bolted together, as shown, and may be made of glass fibre.
