Abstract
1,213,810. Photographic processing. EASTMAN KODAK CO. Dec.21, 1967 [Dec.28, 1966], No.58064/67. Heading G2C. Unexposed silver-halide is rendered developable by treatment with an aqueous solution of an ionic boron compound having an anion composed only of B and H atoms and containing at least 2 boron atoms. Preferred compounds are of formula: (M<SP>c+</SP>) x (B y H z )<SP>xo-</SP> in which M<SP>c+</SP> is a positive ion of valency c, and c, x, y and z being at least 6; preferably M contains an N, S, Sb, As atom or is an alkali or alkaline earth metal ion. The solution is used in both black-and-white and colour reversal processes in place of the reversal exposure. The boron compound may be applied before development or in admixture with a developing agent. The boron compounds may themselves act as black-and-white developing agents.
