Abstract
1,212,924. Injection moulding. F. STUBBE. 1 July, 1968 [5 July, 1967], No. 31321/68. Heading B5A. An injection moulding machine in which the injection nozzle 10 is moved into engagement with the mould 6 by a pressure actuated feed unit 16 includes a control device 14 to actuate the injection step when pressure within the feed unit builds up to a desired value. A rotary table 2 carries mould units 3, each comprising moulds clamped between plates 4, 5, which moulds are brought, in turn, into alignment with an injection unit 1 which is urged towards the moulds by a pair of hydraulic feed units 16. The cylinders 19, Fig. 2, of the units are stationary, and their piston-rods act through springs 13 to engage a projection 18 on the injection unit to force its nozzle against a feed bush 8 of the mould. A switch 14 is secured to the injection unit adjacent the end of one of the rods 17 so that when pressure in that feed unit builds up due to the engagement of the nozzle and mould, the force of the spring 13 is overcome and the switch is actuated by the end of the rod to initiate the injection step. The pressure necessary to effect this operation is varied by adjusting the position of a cap nut 15 on the rod end. Alternatively the spacing z may be varied. The injection step may alternatively be triggered by a pressure switch connected with the pressure chamber of the hydraulic feed unit.
