Abstract
1323470 Mould closing device UNILAN AG 23 Oct 1970 [24 Oct 1969] 50388/70 Heading B5A Die parts 5, 6, defining a cavity for the moulding of natural and synthetic resins such as rubber or elastomers, e.g. having a cellular structure, are retained during moulding in their closed position by a pre-stressed resilient means which may comprise a pneumatic dash pot, but in the described embodiments comprises at least one coil spring 7. In the Fig. 1 embodiment, the lower die 5 is fixed to the press frame 1, and the upper die 6 to the rods 10, 11 of a cross-member 12 which is upwardly displaced, e.g. by a single acting pressure cylinder 14, or by a linear electromagnet motor, or by a lifting mechanism operated by an electric motor, to raise the upper die 6 against the closing force of the spring 7, which is precompressed between the upper die 6 and an abutment 8 adjustable by a screw thread 9 to vary the pre-stressing. In the Fig. 2 embodiment (not printed), a two part mould is employed which is removable from the press frame, the tie rods being fixed to a plate which bears on the upper mould part.
