Abstract
1,211,907. Production of 1,2-diamines. BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK A.G. 10 April, 1968 [13 April, 1967], No. 17186/68. Heading C2C. A process for the production of 1,2-diamines comprises reacting a 1,2-epoxide with ammonia, a primary amine or a secondary amine in the presence of water, hydrogen and a supported hydrogenation catalyst having an internal surface area of from 0À1 to 1200 m.<SP>2</SP>/g., the reaction being carried out at elevated temperature and superatmospheric pressure. Preferred catalysts are supported catalysts containing cobalt, nickel, platinum, palladium or ruthenium with an activator, if desired, such as copper, chromium or manganese, and a content of an inorganic pyroacid or polyacid, e.g. polyphosphoric acid, tetraboric acid or pyrosulphuric acid. The preparation of propylenediamine (1,2) is exemplified. Suitable epoxides include aliphatic, cycloaliphatic and styrene epoxides. Suitable amines include heterocyclic amines.
