Abstract

1,211,550. Lighting instruments. S. H. F. SARL. March 25, 1969 [Dec. 28, 1967], No. 58868/67. Addition to 1, 161, 065. Heading G1F. An instrument of the type described in the parent Specification 1, 161, 065 is further modified in that the mirror 11 in the box 1 is carried on a baseplate 3 which is centrally mounted on a double row spherical ball bearing (not shown) and provided with levelling screws 6, 7 acting against a spring under compression at 5 to enable the mirror to be brought to a horizontal position as determined by spirit levels 10 and the box 1 itself being provided with level adjusting feet 13, the mirror 11 being marked with a design 12 about a central mark 12A, and the target on the lid of the box having a central lighting hole corresponding to the mark 12A, and white areas corresponding in shape to and twice the size of the design 12 on the mirror. The feet 13 may be in the form of screws with heads accessible from above the box or in the form of telescopic legs. The base-plate 3 has four slits 20 in aligned pairs which enable the box to be orientated with respect an overhead sight line such as a string by observation of its reflection in the mirror 11. The lid of the box (not shown) has two sliding panels which expose the sighting aperture in the target when drawn apart. Each of the panels carries a slidable marked rule so that the lid may be set at a predetermined distance from a desired datum.
