552,204. Range-finders. LUND, C. A. Oct. 16, 1941, No. 13340. [Class 97 (i)] A range-finder having a known distant height for base comprises a plate 2 formed with an eye aperture secured to a bar or the equivalent 1 on which a disc 5 is both rotatable and slidable. Holes of different diameters are spaced circularly on the disc 5, each numbered appropriately to a known distant height. The disc is rotated to bring a desired hole into sighting line with the eye aperture, and is then moved along the rod until the height of the distant object apparently agrees with the diameter of the hole. The range is then read from a scale on the rod. The holes may be slits having various lengths, and some holes may be used for two different distant heights, the numberings and scale graduations being distinguished by the colours of their markings.
