Abstract

1,211,386. Latch fastenings. ELTREVA A.G. 30 Nov., 1967 [22 March, 1967], No. 54457/67. Heading E2A. A window frame assembly has a metal member 16 forming the weather side of the frame assembly, and a wooden member 1 forming the interior side of the frame assembly with ithe metal member being adapted to abut against two faces of the wooden member arranged at right angles one to the other, and means for releasably securing the metal and wooden members together, said means comprising a latch assembly accommodated in a housing 4 in the wooden member, the assembly having a first latch member 32 pivotally mounted in the housing and terminating in a jaw 23 co-operable with a first flange 25 of the metal member and a second latch member 8 pivotally mounted on the first latch member about an axis intermediate the jaw and pivot axis of the first latch member, the second latch member terminating in a jaw 21 directed in a direction opposite to the jaw on the first latch member and co-operable with a second flange 19 of the metal member and a screw 12 inserted through the housing to engage a bore near the end of the second latch member remote from its jaw, which bore widens out at both ends the latch members being urged under gravity to cause the jaws thereof to engage the respective flanges and tightening of the screw locks the latch members in their latching positions. As described latch member 22 is U-shaped and contains the latch member 8 between its limbs. The latch assembly is formed from a plastics material.
