Abstract

1,044,911. Door closure devices. PERKINS & POWELL Ltd. Feb. 25, 1964 [Feb. 28, 1963], No. 7992/63. Heading E2M. A closure device for a door comprises an anchor member 16 attached to the door jamb 13 and a tubular member 17 located within the door 10, the two parts being joined by a coupling member 18 one end of which is attached to the anchor member and the other end to a compression spring inside the tube 17. The coupling member consists of a chain 25, a rod inside the tube 17 to which the chain is attached and a nut threaded on the end of this rod which forms an abutment for the spring. This nut has a tooth 34 which engages with a slot 35 in the body member and prevents rotation of the nut relative to the body member. A bifurcated tool is provided to hold the chain by one of the smaller links so that the unit can be fitted. When the door is in the closed position the closure device is concealed.
