1,211,097. Optical apparatus. MERESTECHNIKAI KOZPONTI KUTATO LABORATORIUM. Nov.15, 1967 [Nov.17, 1966], No.52044/67. Heading G2J. An optical system for producing a homogeneous light spot of variable diameter, and constant luminous flux, particularly for colorimeters, comprises a fixed condenser L1, a light source I at the focus of L1, and a movable lens unit L2 for varying the size of the illuminated area on a surface F, the distance L between condenser L1 and surface F being approximately four times the focal length of the lens unit L2. The terminal points of travel of lens unit L2 are spaced from condenser L1 by distances of at least the focal length and not more than three times the focal length, respectively of the lens unit L2. A fixed lens or mirror may be provided along the path of travel of the unit L2 and secured by releasable fixing means.
