Abstract
1372413 Optical inspection apparatus DEFENCE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR 11 July 1972 [15 July 1971] 33200/71 Heading G2J A tube inspection device comprises a conical externally reflecting mirror 2 and a light source 5 spaced axially from the base of the cone and located at the side of the cone remote from the apex thereof. As shown, the mirror is mounted on beam 3 supported in the tube by three wheels, 6, 9, one of which, 6 is steerable. Filler 8 is connected to tow-line 14 by which the device is pulled through the tube. The light source 4 may be, as shown, inside a transparent portion 4 of the beam 3, or, alternatively, may be mounted on the beam, or a plurality of sources may be provided. The wall area illuminated L, may be adjustable by making the light source movable with respect to the mirror. The mirror may be viewed at X by eye or using a telescope, or periscope.
