A low alloy steel consists, by weight, of: - Mo 0À15-0À7% Cu 0À05-0À8% Cr 0À03-1% Al (sol.) 0À01-0À1% N 0À002-0.007% Nb 0À005-0À05% B 0À0005-0À005% Ti 0À005-0À05% Fe and impurities - balance. Ni is an essential component of the alloy when Cu > 0À5%. The steel may be heat-treated at a temperature from the Ac3 point to 1050‹C, quenched and tempered at below the Ac1 point.
