Abstract
1,209,801. Pneumatic conveyers; endless conveyers. HAUNI - WERKE KORBER & CO. K.G. 1 Nov., 1968 [2 Jan., 1968; 9 Feb., 1968], Nos. 306/68 and 6479/68. Heading B8A. Rod-like articles, such as cigarette filter rods 6, are transferred transversely to their longitudinal axes up a duct 4 from the end of a pneumatic pipe line 1 into a hopper 5, at least one wall of the duct 4 being displaceable in the direction of the duct. As shown, the duct is formed by a pair of driven endless belts 38, 39 which feed the rods through a duct 59, formed by rails 58, into the hopper 5. As each rod emerges from the end of the pipe line 1, its leading end is raised to bring it into engagement with the belts 38, 39 by means of an inclined plane surface, Fig. 2 (not shown), an upwardly curved surface, Fig. 3 (not shown), a roller, Fig. 4 (not shown), or an air jet, Fig. 5 (not shown). In further embodiments, each of the belts 38, 39 is replaced by a plurality of spaced round belts and, on failure of the rod supply, the lowermost rod in the duct 59 is held out of engagement with the moving belts by a pivoted pawl, Figs. 6, 7 (not shown), or by the raised rims of the upper belt pulleys, Fig. 8 (not shown). In the embodiment of Figs. 11, 12 (not shown), the spacing between the opposed belt runs is adjustable and in a further embodiment, Figs. 9, 10 (not shown), the belts are replaced by a spaced pair of driven rollers. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 13, the feed duct is constituted by a plate 712 and the lower runs of endless belts 713, 714, which transfer the articles transversely from the end of the pneumatic pipe line 801 to the hopper 805.
