Abstract

1,209,785. Prefabricated sectional roof unit. C. D. P. SMALLPEICE. 8 Dec., 1967, No. 55816/67. Heading E1W. A prefabricated roof unit 10 with a rectangular base and side elevation, forms a ridge roof when placed against another similar unit 11, and comprises rafters 15 each of which is inclined downwardly from the ridge in a plane normal to the ridge to support a waterproof surface 25. The base includes joists 19 each parallel to the ridge, the ridge being vertically above the opposed edge of the base. The rafters may be braced by a rigid sheet lying against their inner or outer surface. The joists may be braced by a rigid sheet on their upper or lower sunface to farm a floor or a ceiling respectively. Vertical battens may also be provided extending from the ridge and sides Which also may be braced by rigid sheet material. At least part of the thickness of the rigid sheet material may comprise insulation such as wood, reconstituted wood or synthetic-fibrous cement. At least part of the external surface may be coated by chips in a matrix of polyurethane resin. The rafters 15 may be straight or convexly curved.
