Abstract

1,209,681. Open-end spinning. VYZKUMNY USTAV BAVLNARSKY. 18 Jan., 1968 [1 June, 1967], No. 2769/68. Headings D1D and DIN. A break spinning device comprising an underpressure spinning chamber 1 and a combing out roller 6 for opening the fibres from a sliver 17, has the shaft 3 of the chamber 1 rotatably mounted on a rotatable hollow shaft 5 carrying the combing-out roller 6. Thus the speed of the chamber 1 may be increased while the speed of the shaft 3 relative to shaft 5 and therefore the rate of wear of bearings 4 is not. Shafts 3 and 5 are provided with pulleys 9, 10 to be belt driven. Alternatively they may be driven by separate high frequency electric motors, the rotors of which are mounted on the respective shafts. In Fig. 5 not shown the chamber (1) lies within a hollow combing out roller (6) and the air expelled through outlets from the spinning chamber passes into the hollow combing-out roller and then outwardly through apertures in the combing-out roller to assist in removal of filbres from the roller. As shown sliver 17 is fed to the combing out roller by rollers 16 driven by a chain 19. After being opened the fibres pass along a conduit 26 and into an entry conduit 22 formed in a cover 20 for the spinning unit. The fibres are thus fed to the surface of a cylindrical extension 25 of cover 20. A removable cover 21 is provided in cover 20 to enable the spinning chamber to be cleaned; cover 21 may be eccentrically mounted relative to the spinning chamber, see Fig. 7 not shown, and part of the tapering fibre entry passage 22 may be formed in it. Spinning unit; disconnecting from main drive. In Fig. 10 each spinning unit 8 is pivotally mounted on the machine frame 15 by a pin 37 carried by a vibration damping block 38. The unit is locked in its working position by a hooked lever 40 engaging a catch 39 on the unit. Normally the chamber 1 is driven by an associated pulley 9 engaging a belt 451 and combing-out roller 6 is driven by a pulley 10 engaging a belt 45. The roller 49 which co-operates with a pivotally mounted and spring biassed conductor (58) see Fig. 11 not shown, and feed sliver to the combing out roller 6, is driven from a worm wheel 50 engaging a wheel 51 on its shaft 52. If unit 8 is unlocked it pivots forward under its weight so that pulleys 9, 10 move from their belts and into engagement with braking pads 60. Alternative brake pad mountings are shown in Figs. 15, 16 not shown. 'In addition wheel 51 is moved out of engagement with worm 50 and feed roller 49 is thus stopped. Thus spinning stops. Stop motion A feeler 46 senses the thread leaving the spinning unit and on breakage actuates a signal 47 e.g. a warning light and an electromagnet 48 which displaces a clutch to stop drive to feed roller 49 and also brake the feed roller. Thus the feed of fibres to the chamber is stopped while the break is repaired.
