Cables and compound conductors.-In electric cables having an outer sheath of electrically non- conductive waterproof substance such as bitumen or india-rubber, a thin strip or tape of conductive material is wound over the dielectric covering between this covering and the sheath, the contiguous edges of the strip or tape being in contact or overlapping. The strip or tape is permanently connected to earth, whereby the outer sheath is relieved from electric stresses. A textile tape or the like may be wound over the conductive strip to prevent the outer sheath from being cut or damaged. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 319/04, 1194/10, 3818/10, and 22355/12.
