Abstract
1,209,599. Nuclear power plant. NUCLEAR POWER GROUP Ltd. 20 Feb., 1968 [7 March, 1967], No. 10597/67. Heading G6C. In a nuclear power plant, a standby or peak load unit is provided, consisting of fossil-fuelled water-tube drum type boilers supplying a steam output equivalent to that of the reactor. The nuclear system includes a high temperature, carbon-dioxide gas-cooled, graphite moderated reactor enclosed within a concrete pressure vessel together with steam generating heat exchangers and gas circulators. The standby boilers may be kept warm by steam from the reactor. In addition a further turbine driven electrical generator is provided for use as a standby for any one of the main generators or as a peak load set.
