Abstract

1,209,323. Washing bottles &c. DAWSON BROS. Ltd. 11 July, 1968 [12 July, 1967], No. 32065/67. Heading B8T. A label-removing tank 1 has entry and exit openings 2, 3 respectively for the passage of a bottle-carrying conveyer 4 that describes a looped path within the tank. Banks of nozzles 9, 10 are positioned beneath the level of the washing fluid L and direct a jet of the fluid over the bottles from their necks to their bottoms. The labels so removed pass with the fluid through grids 11, 12 into the label collecting area C. From this area a suction pump (not shown) draws the fluid and detached labels to a selfcleaning rotary filter or other suitable apparatus. The filtered fluid then passes to a bank 13 that directs jets of fluid upwards into the bottles, after which the fluid falls back on to a shoot 14 that directs it as a stream on to the tops of bottles emerging from the tank fluid. Another grid 15 is provided to allow further labels to pass to area C.
