Abstract

1,208,727. Moving band filter. M. E. L. EQUIPMENT CO. Ltd. 20 Nov. 1967 [19 Dec., 1966], No. 56747/66. Heading BID. A moving band filter, in which a band of paper cloth or bonded fibres 6 is entrained over a grid 3 in the bottom of tank 1 to filter machine tool coolant which is drawn through band 6 by pump 5, has the band moved periodically by a pair of endless chains 9a, 9b connected by bars 13, and air or liquid under pressure is directed up through staggered orifices (15), opening from manifold 14 through sloping bottom 8 of the tank, to force the band against bars 13 to increase the frictional grip therebetween. The chains are driven by an electric motor and the air or liquid supplied to manifold 14 through a solenoid valve, the pump and motor being actuated and the valve opened and closed in step by. a common control circuit. Suction chamber 4 below grid 3 is partly divided by baffles 4b, and pump 5 may deliver to a storage tank.
