Abstract

1,080,878. Liquid filters. DAWSON BROS Ltd. D. DAWSON and G. DAWSON. Oct. 26, 1964 [Nov. 7, 1963], No. 43932/63. Heading B1D. Liquid in a tank 3 is filtered by being drawn by a suction pump 19 through a filter cloth M which is in contact with the peripheral part of a drum 1 dipping in the liquid, the drum being rotated intermittently to being a fresh stretch of filter cloth into the filtration position. A curved perforated plate 17 fits around the drum periphery with enough clearance to allow for the filter cloth to pass therebetween, the plate extending unperforated at 17X to the sides of the tank. Liquid is drawn from the inside of the drum through the filter cloth and perforated plate, and is then discharged at 20 for re-use. A tuning device starts and stops a motor 8 which through a gear-box 7, chains, and wheels drives the drum and also a roller 12 which draws the cloth off a roll 14. A device for causing actuation of the drum device in the case of the timing device failure or of excess soilage in the liquid may be provided.
