A container attachment means including a housing 1 of which the upper surface can be arranged to lie flush with that of a vehicle frame, is characterised by a locking pin 4 located within the housing and a locking head 5 attached to the pin 4 for rotation therewith, the head normally protruding from the upper surface of the housing and being movable between an operative raised position and an inoperative raised position and being directly retractible in one of those positions, whereby upon retraction, the looking head 5 is allowed to fall so as to be located in the housing 1 and below the upper surface thereof. As shown the pin 4 is supported on a substantially oval shank 7 within the housing 1 and an operating handle 9 is attached to the base of the shank 7 for rotating the latter between positions in which the shank is supported by the housing and in which the shank passes through an aperture 11 in the housing. A register member 10 of which the peripheral shape corresponds with that of the head 5, is loosely mounted on the pin 4 and in use registers with and enters, the aperture of the corner casting on the container and allows rotation of the head 5 by means of the handle 9 from the Fig. 1 position to the Fig. 3 position. In his latter position the major cross-sectional axis of the shank 7 is aligned with that of the aperture 11 and if in this position if no container is present, the shank member 10, pin 4 and head 5 fall within the housing. The handle 9 is retained in the raised position of the head by a latch 13 and is located against abutments (16) on the bottom of the housing.
