Abstract

1363279 Stud and socket fastenings CRANE FRUEHAUF TRAILERS Ltd 6 Oct 1971 46465/71 Heading E2B In a twistlock for securing containers to vehicles and of the kind comprising a spindle 2 having a head 1 and rotatable by a handle 13 so that the head may be located in a position overlying and securing a corner casting of a container or in a position wherein the head is aligned with an aperture 11 whereby the spindle may be retracted within a housing 5, the spindle is of non-circular section preferably hexagonal, and passes through an aperture of similar shape in the handle whereby on retraction of the head the spindle may pass through this aperture whilst operative connection between the spindle and the handle is maintained. As shown, a register 3 is, when the spindle is raised, engaged by a spring-biassed plate 19, the latter being tilted clear of the register by a pin 4 when the spindle is rotated to a position for retraction thereof. The handle is locatable in position by a spring-pressed ball 14.
