Abstract

1,207,893. Capacitors. SPRAGUE ELECTRIC CO. 8 Feb., 1968 [9 Feb., 1967], No. 6212/68. Headings H1M, HIS and H1T. An electrical component 20, e.g. a capacitor, particularly electrolytic, a resistor or an inductor, is encapsulated by inserting it into a cavity in a pre-formed plastics body 10, connecting the component via tabs 24, 26 to lead wires 14, 16 extending from opposite sides of body 10 and alongside and radially spaced from the cavity, and covering the open end of the cavity and the connections to the lead wires with mouldable insulating material or a pre-formed lid. A pair of lead wires may be located towards the end of the long radii of an elliptical cross-sectioned body 10 (Fig. 1, not shown) or four wires may be located at the corners of a square crosssectioned body (Fig. 4, not shown). Several cavities with associated lead wires may be provided in one body (Fig. 5, not shown). Raised portions 15, 17 extending from the bottom of body 10 around wires 14, 16 may mark the polarity of the leads and space the body from e.g. a printed circuit board.
