Abstract

1,097,609. Encasing capacitors. TELEGRAPH CONDENSER CO. Ltd. April 14, 1966 [May 4, 1965], No. 18776/65. Heading HIM. Connecting lug 3 emerging from the bottom of capacitor 1 is brought alongside the capacitor body so that both lugs 2 and 3 extend from the upper end, the lugs are bent over at 180 degrees as shown, connecting wires 13 and 14 are soldered to the lugs and the capacitor is inserted in moulded thermoplastic casing 4, closed at the lower end, with grooves 7 and 8 to accommodate the lead wires and lugs. The casing is closed by a lid 5 having a disc portion 10 which rests on the upper face of the casing, and a flange 11 which clamps the lugs between it and the inner casing wall. The grooves 7 and 8 and the space between the top of the casing and the top 9 of the lid are filled by injecting thermoplastic material which may be coloured so that when it also fills a notch 12 in the lid aligned with one of the leads, the polarity of that lead is identified. The capacitor may be electrolytic or non- electrolytic.
