Abstract

[Also in Division C7] A circular waveguide for propagation of the TE 01 mode is constituted by a steel pipe the inner surface of which is copper-plated and thereafter coated first with a semi-conductive layer of metal oxide or metal sulphide, of a thickness of several microns, and subsequently with a layer of dielectric material e.g. polyethylene. The manufacture of a suitable semi-conductive layer of copper oxide by either chemical or electrolytic methods is described (see Division C7). Oxide coating thicknesses of 1 to 3 microns are referred to.
