Abstract

694,622. Wave-guides. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Oct. 26, 1951 [Nov. 18, 1950], No. 25100/51. Class 40 (viii). In a wave-guide for surface waves comprising a metal wire 1 provided with a surrounding dielectric layer, the latter is formed by separate dielectric bodies 2, threaded on the wire at distances small compared to the operating wave length. The bodies may be in the form of thin discs as shown in Fig. 1 or beads, as shown in Fig. 2. The wire 1 may be coated with a thin enamel layer to fill spaces between the wire and the dielectric members.
