1,206,848. Aircraft hatch cover. A. Y. BELOLIPETSKY, V. T. SHVEDOV, V. T. CHMIL, V. Z. BRAGILEVSKY, S. D. ELMESEV, M. E. BABKIN, V. A. MAXIMOV, and V. N. GELPRIN. 22 Aug., 1968, No. 40184/68. Heading B7W. [Also in Division E2] An aircraft hatch cover 2 has a hinge 15 at the front end and supports 3 on the sides near the back, the hinge and supports being mounted in respective guides 9, 5 and 6 attached to the fuselage 1 so that the hatch may be opened either by pivoting the cover 2 downwards to position D about hinge 15 or by sliding it forwad to position E along the fuselage, and the guides carrying the supports are divided into front parts 5 fixed to the fuselage and rear parts 6 hingedly connected to the front parts and to a first drive 8 for pivoting the cover in a vertical plane. The front edge of the cover is retained in position by power operated locks 31, Fig. 6, and the sides by power operated locks 32, Fig. 7, with a hook 42 catching on a shaft 40. When the cover is to be used as a ladder the side locks 32 are released by power cylinders (not shown) and further power cylinders 8 turn the rear parts of the side guides about a hinge 7. The cover 2 is connected hingedly to the side guide 6 by a pin (28), Fig. 4 (not shown), retaining a carriage (27) hinged to a bracket (26) fixed to the cover 2 so that when the guide 6 is lowered the cover turns about hinge 15. When the cover is to be slid forward for example for air dropping, locks 32 are released and a power cylinder 38 causes hooks 37 to release shafts 34 thus releasing lock 31. Following this a drive 16 actuates a chain 21 with rollers which in turn drives carriage 10 connected thereto and carrying a bracket 12. As bracket 12 moves along guide 9 carried by carriages 10 and 11, it shifts the cover 2 to the position E.
