Abstract
1,206,739. Sewing machines. SINGER CO. 20 June, 1969 [28 June, 1968], No. 31226/69. Heading D1G In a sewing machine the presser foot 24 is urged towards the work piece by the torque stored in a rod 54. As shown one end, 60, of the rod 54 acts on a 'U' shaped bracket 32 carrying the presser bar 22. The other end 56 of the rod normally extends at less than a right angle to the plane formed by the rod 54 and its other end 60 so as it is constrained in use by a bracket 68 a torque is set up therein. The position of the end 56 and hence the torque in the rod is adjustable by means of a screw 70. A lifting lever 46 is provided to raise the presser foot against the action of the torque rod 54.
