Abstract
120,646. Evans, A. G. Nov. 27, 1917. Scrubbers. - An arrangement of laths or battens placed below the usual gridwork g, Fig. 7, of cooling. towers comprises parallel vertical series of laths inclined to the horizontal alternately in opposite directions, the lower ends a of the laths being shouldered to engage the upper ends b of laths meeting them, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2, thereby locking and spacing them. Bearers or rails c may be arranged below the junctions of the laths, as in Fig. 1, or between the ends, as in Fig. 3. The space between the vertical series may be varied to suit open or force-draught towers. The liquid is sprayed upwards by nozzles f on headers e. According to the Provisional Specification, the laths may be of wood, metal, or concrete, and Specification 103,691 is referred to.
