Abstract

1,206,461. Beam splitters. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Jan.8, 1968 [Jan. 10, 1967], No.1225/67. Heading G2J. A coil of wire 4 e.g. of indium is placed between two prisms 1, 2 of a beamsplitter and the prisms pressed together to compress the wire until the correct width of an air gap between them is achieved, the wire being deformed from circular to elliptical cross-section. Cement 5 is introduced between the prisms, the compressed wire defining the optical path and preventing the cement from clouding this part. This beamsplitter assembly is mounted in an aluminium casting (10), Figs. 3, 4 (not shown) forming part of a television camera.
