In a pressure gauge for indicating pressure below atmosphere in which the gauge is attached to a container 21 by a threaded hollow stem 11 the arrangement is such that when the pressure within the container 21 is above atmosphere a diaphragm 13 is deflected to project the free end 15 of a plunger 14, mounted on the diaphragm 15, above the surface 10 but if the pressure within the container 21 falls below atmosphere the diaphragm 13 is deflected against a spring 16 to move the free end 15 of plunger 14 to a position below the surface 10.
