Abstract

1,206,442. Coating. BLUNDELL-PERMOGLAZE Ltd. 8 Aug., 1968 [11 Aug., 1967], No. 36995/67. Heading B2E. [Also in Division C3] Steel or chromated aluminium panels are sprayed with a dispersion in white spirit of a methyl methacrylate/ethyl acrylate copolymer, an alkyd resin and titanium dioxide and stoved. In other examples, the substrates and dispersions are as follows: a) glass sheets and a methyl methacrylate/ethyl acrylate/maleic anhydride copolymer dispersion containing a cross-linking agent, b) aluminium foil and a methyl methacrylate/ethyl acrylate/2-hydroxypropyl methacrylate copolymer dispersion containing said agent and c) glass plates and a methly methacrylate/ethyl acrylate copolymer dispersion. Each dispersion contains a stabiliser prepared by polymerising methyl methacrylate on to a hydroxyl or carboxyl terminated alkyd molecule having side chains which are ester groups of a long chain saturated fatty acid.
