Abstract

1,206,189. Reinforcement rod spacers. A. B. ABERG. 11 Dec., 1967 [16 Dec., 1966], No. 56150/67. Heading E1W. The ends of a reinforcing rod chair 5, 6 are spaced from the shuttering and are protected against rust by plastics sleeves 1, each of which comprises a closed end 2 adjacent which the bore of the sleeve has a smaller cross section, which grips the end of the chair, then the cross sections of remaining portions of the bore nearer the open end 9, at which concrete can enter the bore, the sleeve having at least two spaced apart projections 3 extending in the same direction, radially outwardly from the sleeve axis to space the sleeve from the shuttering. The projections 3 may be in the form of rings, or may be projections on one side only of the sleeve Fig. 3 (not shown). The .bore of the sleeve may taper towards the closed end, Fig. 1 (not shown), or may be parallel with a local restriction adjacent the closed end, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown). One of the projections 3 may have holes to receive a nail for securing the sleeve to the shuttering.
