Abstract

1,205,079. Photographic materials. FUJI SHASHIN FILM K.K. Dec.22, 1967 [Dec. 23, 1966], No.58439/67. Heading G2C. Photographic materials comprising an emulsion layer on a support having a hydrophobic surface are prepared by (1) preparing a dispersion in a volatile organic solvent of an aqueous emulsion containing silver halide grains or diffusion transfer nuclei and gelatine as sole binder, the volatile solvent being capable of at least partially dissolving the surface of the support coating the dispersion on to the support, and removing the organic solvent. The solvent may be acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, CH 2 Cl 2 , ethylene chloride or cyclohexanone, an alcohol may be used a diluent and an acid (e.g. salicyclic, acetic or boric acid) as dispersing aid. The silver halide dispersion may also contain TiO 2 ; the diffusion transfer dispersion (e.g. for coating on paper pre-coated with carboxymethyl cellulose) may also contain traces of developing and hardening agents.
