Abstract

Impulse and reaction meters; governing.-In a fluid-meter of the impulse-wheel type, means are provided whereby the rotation of the impulse wheel is caused to vary with variation of some property (or properties) such as pressure, density, heat, chemical, or other content of the fluid. In the example shown, the impulse wheel arranged in a by-pass of the main supply is operated by fluid issuing from a nozzle 2, the effective area of which is controlled by an adjustable vane or baffle 5 arranged as shown. The baffle is linked to a Bourdon tube 7, the arrangement being such that, with increase of pressure, the baffle uncovers the nozzle 2 radially with respect to the wheel 3, the speed of rotation of which is correspondingly augmented.
