Abstract

120,398. Bendixen, K. Dec. 29, 1914, [Convention date]. Treatment preliminary to tanning.-Fish-skins &c. are treated prior to tanning to extract the oil and fatty matters wholly or partially. The extraction is effected by treating the skin with any fat-removing means, e.g. a lye consisting of a solution of soda &c., and the excess of lye is neutralized by an acid, such as weak hydrochloric. The skin is washed either after the treatment with lye or after the addition of acid.
